Stolzenfels Castle – Tour-de-Germanay

Our Trip To Germany

Here is another part to the trip we took to Germany.

Photographer in texas

Click and enlarge this picture to really see why I like it.

I love to mess with the sunlight in my pictures.
I like this picture because it has a bit of mistery to it.
The bigger the picture is the more you really SEE it. – at least I do.
I LOVE the was the light is infront of the castle,
while it usually should be behind it.
The castle almost looks like a figment of my imagination,
like I saw it in a dream, and for a moment I saw it in the forest.

This was a castle right next to the Stolzenfels Castle, hidden away a bit, in the trees.

” Please don’t give me too much critisizm, unless it’s constructive.
I enjoy this little hobby of mine.
But I never took any lessons-nor am I a “Photographer”
I just enjoy it. So i’ll share it with you. “

Haunting photo of cross on bridge

A hauntingly beautiful picture of the bridge near a castle.

There was a bridge nearby too, we walked over it on our way to the castle.
I love the eary look of it. You can really tell how foggy it is.
Like the fog is traveling through te trees, pulling at you.
But the sunlight behind the cross is a sign of hope, lighting the darkness beneath.

Stolzenfels Castle

Me in front of stolzenfels castle in Germany.

After traveling up several flights of stairs,
and by several I MEAN    S.E.V.E.R.A.L   we finally got to the castle.
Stolzenfels castle is a cute yellow and brick castle overlooking the Rhine River.
It’s located near Koblenz, Germany and was built in 1259.
It was used to protect the toll station at the Rhine, where ships had to stop and pay toll.
It was destryed in 1689 by the French,
and stayed in ruins until 1815 when it was given as a gift to Fredrick William IV of Prussia.
He rebuilt it completely, And this is how it looks now…

*Don’t mind me in this picture.
I tried not to put too many posed pictures of me and Bart with the castles.

We got to walk around on the castle grounds.
Our favorite part was standing on the balcony overlooking the Rhine.
Shown above.

Rhine River

The view from the castle over the Rhine.

This is the foggy Rhine.
Busy with boats and cars; and modern scenery and building.
There it was, Stolzenfels Castle!

The Most BEAUTIFUL Castle I Have EVER Seen Is Still Coming!!
Keep a lookout for it!

What do you think!

Trip Through Germany – Photography

My Trip Through Germany (with hubbie)

After staying in Holland and visiting family we took a road trip to Hungary,
during this road trip we took our time visiting castles and taking in the German and Austrian scenery.
Here is part one of the pictures of Germany.

Castles along the way

This is a castle along the way that we saw from a distance.

My favorite picture, I wish I could have seen it closer.
I feel like I should have found this picture on Google,
But I took it myself… *proud*

The castle above is Burg Lahneck.
It was built in 1226 to protect a silver mine.

Although we went up to several castles we weren’t able to actually go to every one of them.

Foggie road photograph

SO FOGGY!

I was so excited to take pictures during the trip, my cameral battery full,
a completely empty memory card ready.
But the weather wasn’t coaperating.
It was so incredibly foggy during the trip that it was hard to take nice pictures.
I did do some editing on the pictures to get rid of the foggy color.

before and after of photoshop editing

The weather was so bad that I had to do some editing on some of the photos. Here is a before and after.

My husband was happy to take time from the trip to stop and tour castles,
he also had patience for slowing down or stopping for me to take pictures.
And I take a LOT of pictures.
But sometimes it wasn’t possible to just stop, or we were running low on time.
So my pictures had to be taken out of the car window as we drive.
The picture above shows the before and after editing with photoshop.

Castles in Germany

This castle was one we drove by.

Here is the actual pictue. A castle I would have loved to stop and tour.

German village

A little bit of scenery, the castles are not the only beautiful things.

The castles are not the only beautiful things in germany.
The little country houses and vinyards were also pretty.
The hilly landscape and tree-filled countryside… absolutely beautiful.

Castle in Germany

A castle on a hill with vines growing all down the side of the hill it was on.

Another castle I enjoyed looking at as we drove by.
You cant tell, but the hillside it was on was filled with vinyards.
I think this picture was actually taken inside the car, through the window.
We call this the Posthumus picture.
(Posthumus is my maiden name)
My brothers and dad are famous for taking bad pictures through their car windsheild.
Squashed bugs and all…

In Germany the castles are plentiful…
we drove along the Rhine and saw a lot of castles all along it.
We went inside a few too.
Its too much to put into one post, so I’m going to just post several with lots of pictures.
In one post i’ll show you the most beautiful castle I’ve ever seen!
No picture will EVER do it justice.
Maybe that’s some incentive to follow me…
im just getting the hang of this blogging and I have no idea how to gather followers…

Anyway… just let me know what you think!
Comments welcome

PS. If you ever go to Germany and want to know where these are located just let me know!

Traveling to Holland

HOLLAND

This is the country where I was born.
The beautiful green land of the Netherlands!
My husband and I went to Europe last March
and visited Holland, among other countries.
Here are some pictures of our travels.

photo of pretty windmill in the netherlands or holland

Photography of windmill in holland, the Netherlands landscape

This is one of my favorite pictures of our trip.
This is a windmill we saw on our way to my grandmother’s house.
It’s a small one but I liked how it was in the middle of a field of green grass.
It really shows how Holland really looks. A beautiful country.

photography of church in holland

Church in little town of wommels, the Netherlands, my husband’s home town

This is a picture of a church in my husband’s home town.
Almost every small town has a church in the middle of it.
It’s usually surrounded by a grave yard.
The churches all look different but they are all pretty.
The weather in this picture depicts dutch weather to a T.
Its dark, cloudy, and a bit rainy.
Nasty weather… but that’s why the grass is so green. 🙂

photography of town in the netherlands

A photograph of a creek in the middle of a town in holland, or the Netherlands

As we traveled I took lots of pictures, these are just a few,
this was in a street close by Wommels.
Holland is lined with lots of little creeks here and there.
Once upon a time Holland was under water,
they pumped the water out and built dikes (large hills) to keep the ocean back.
Now the land is dry, but there are lots of little waterways.
These waterways are usually also the property lines for most people,
instead of fences.

Bikes in holland photography

Bikes in the Netherlands, lined up at a bus stop. You see this everywhere

Oh, the bikes. I’m not a bike rider.
I will when I have to but im not very good at it,
and I don’t enjoy it either.
But everyone in Holland rides bikes,
at bus stops you see bikes lined up like here.

A pretty sunset in holland

Photography of the sun setting in the Netherlands

Sunset over the beautiful landscape.

photo of the sun settin in holland

The sun setting behind the windmills in holland or the Netherlands. Beautiful colors in this photo

At one point Bart really hated stopping the car for me to take pictures.
But he was a sweetheart about it. 🙂

vacation in holland

With my cousin and her ponies in holland at a little beach

Our main reason for going to Holland was to see family,
I’m not posting all the family pictures.
Just a few pretty pictures I took along the way.
Hope you enjoyed the post, Holland really is a beautiful country.
If you get a chance to go I give you this advice.
Don’t stay in Amsterdam, that’s like going to the USA and staying in New York City.
Holland has a lot more to it than just the big city.

Photographs – Location – West Texas

About a month ago I took a little trip to West Texas to visit a friend of mine, not just a friend, my best friend since the 5th grade.

Anyway, it was a long long trip… four and a half hours of what seemed like NOTHING.
So I decided to take those four and a half hours to make nothing into something…

If you’ve ever driven out west, this is deffinatly not new to you. When I was a kid I remember thinking that they looked like grass hoppers.
In some places there are so many of them it even smells like oil.

Here is another image that you’ll know if you’ve been to West Texas.
In this picture I love how you can see the heat on the ground. The windmills are fuzzy because of it and the gate next to the road is almost unrecognizable.

I felt like this picture depicted how I felt at a certain point of my trip. I know that it wasn’t really THAT long of a drive. But at one point I felt like it would never end.

There are some beautiful scenery in West Texas.

In these next few pictures I wanted to notice the little things:

Well I hope you enjoyed this photography, I had to put it on my blog twice because once my power went off while I was saving it.
So I hope you enjoyed it!
